Or maybe not? Who knew. Anyway, his pen flew across the lyric page. Was he bothered that it was also the official sheet that he'd been handed to sing off. Even though they were his words, he'd submitted the sheet to the produces of the label only to be handed this in return. Apparently, some of the upper members of the label, no names mentioned, had decided that they were also song writing masters and had altered some of the words. That was no okay with Noah who had been handed the sheet as he had moved to stand in front of the microphone. The great thing about Winter Pursuit's recording sessions was that they would do it all together and not each instrument separately, other then Noah's guitar and voice obviously. It would be best if he only had to focus on one at a time. Anyway, Noah had been happy and bubbly as usual and just wanted to start the day off positively... that was until he had been handed the lyric sheet. Never having being one to follow the rules set by anyone, Noah had grabbed a pen and set about changing the song back to what it was. There was only two things Noah really took all that seriously in his life and the music was exactly that. No jumped up suit would tell him what to sing. Particularly, as it was possibly one of the most important songs on the album for him. Consequence was going to be one of the more epic of the songs on the album, he could tell. The suit's interest in the words already told the singer that it would no doubt be pitched as one of the singles off the album which he didn't mind too much, after all it was a little more heavier then their usual stuff. He wouldn't mention that fact to Winter though until afterwards as she might start panicking at the bit of screamo she was supposed to do at the end. Noah certainly did not have that type of voice but apparently two members of their band did, so he would just have to see how it went.
It was really no surprise that Noah could be seen as maybe a horror to record with sometimes. If he noticed the tiniest thing he would want the whole song to be done again, which was probably the explanation for why he was currently sat on the stool scribbling some notes down on the sheet. It really did need to be perfect and by God, he'd get it like that. Significantly, Noah never stopped the song for any of the other bands but the slightest tuning problem and he'd stop with a sheepish look at the rest of the band and "That was out."... it didn't matter that pretty much all of the time, his voice had been perfectly fine. Dropping his pen so it hit the floor as soon as he reached the last word of the song, Noah lifted the paper and let his eyes scan it and check it through. Getting that feeling that someone was watching him, Noah glanced up and raised his eyebrows simply as Avalon, the band's photographer, with a video camera in her hand. He tilted his head basically in a question to ask 'what?' "Shit Noah, don't be too exciting, you might scare the kids off." He grinned and shook his head slightly at her words and sat straighter as the camera came closer to his face. His eyes looked up and over it at Avalon, his face carrying a slightly bemused smile. "Tell them what's happening!" Noah's eyes dropped to the camera lens and unintentionally gave it a smile that would make a majority of the fan girls die inside when they watched it on you tube later that day. "Well... it's day... three of recording our first full length." He looked uncertainly at the electronic equipment almost like it would eat him. Noah wasn't scared of speaking in front of a camera, he was way used to it, this was just a little random. And then, kind of in a change of character, Noah did his infamous little hair flick out of his eyes and held out his hands wide. "And, it's going to be Uh-Mazing!" He sung way too loudly into the microphone and tried to at least look innocent when the guy behind the recording platform grabbed his ears. Pulling a cringe face, Noah turned to the camera again and leaned in a bit. "Oops."
Shrugging, Noah turned away and let Avalon move on to someone a bit more interesting, although no doubt that little section would get on the tape somehow. Further proof of how guilty he actually was. Using his hand to move the microphone closer, Noah licked his lips and looked over the top to see his band mates and when they were ready to carry on. "Right... we should try this again." Fourth time lucky, right? Rubbing his nose, Noah realised he could really do with his fix right now. He hadn't had one since yesterday evening. It could wait a few more minutes to do this song. Placing the lyric sheet in front of him, it was fruitless really considering he really didn't need it. After all, Noah had spent a long time on these songs and that meant the words tended to stick in your head after a short time. Noah was damn proud of the songs though... they just seemed way more genuine then before. Winter had written a song this time which he'd made sure got into the play list because a bit of change was always good, not to mention it was a good song too. The words had obviously been about Caleb but that didn't matter. Noah had lost count of how many songs he'd written from when he first started that had come from his and Holli's relationship when they younger. Some of them were bitter but the majority of them... actually no. They were almost entirely bitter about it. There was no amnosity about them now, but she had been Noah's first and one never got over that person no matter how hard they tried. It probably explained why he his eyes always managed to drift to Holli on stage whenever a mention of love came up. He had loved Holli, he was sure about it. That was until she had dumped him. They both seemed to have agreed to move on, but jealousy was a bitch. Still, he was getting really close to Liberty now and he genuinely liked her, even if no-one else seemed to other then that bastard Travis. That was a different story though. Noah waited for the other instruments to come in as it was only about 50 seconds into the song were any vocals needed. He smiled as the familiar riff of the afternoon sounded out. The others were probably feeling a little different about the part though.

THE WAY THAT YOU HATE ME AND THE LENGTH OF YOUR HAIR, IT'S THE REASON I MADE you, it's the bond that we share, you see we're all trying to endure, you could easily go and make your own life somewhere This was not a very good morning. Holli was extremely hung over, and Noah was on one of his little rampages he got in whenever he was excited about something. Normally it was amusing, even infectious, but not when Holli had a killer headache, and felt like she was going to pass out at any moment. However, it seemed to not really be affecting her singing and guitar, because if it had been, Noah would have started yelling at her a long time ago. She sang the back up vocals easily, her voice harmonizing with Noah’s the way it so wonderfully did. Even now, with how bad she was feeling, she couldn’t help but marvel at how well they sounded together. The recording, at least today, was a bit of a stop and go process, however. Every minute or so, Noah stopped to furiously scribble down something, or talk to the sound guy. It was a little frustrating, but Holli knew that he was just trying to do what was best for all of them, so their album would sound awesome. She just wished they could do it a little faster or something, because at this point, it seemed like she’d never get back to bed.
Holli breathed out a sigh of relief as Noah dropped his pen. Finally! Now they could get to the fun part, of actually playing their music, instead of watching him write. She shifted a little, trying to make herself more comfortable, and picked her guitar up from where she had leaned it against the wall. Unfortunately, they were interrupted once again by their photog, Avalon. See, Holli had nothing against the girl, she took wonderful pictures, but she had a bad habit of getting in the way at the worst possible times. Like right now. Holli rolled her eyes a little as Noah hammed it up for the camera, but she couldn’t help laughing. He sure knew how to captivate people, that was for sure. You could tell Noah was coming into a room by the sound of screaming fan girls. Holli’s legs starting to cramp as she shifted awkwardly, and she skipped up behind him, resting her chin on his shoulder, and smiling for Avalon’s video camera. “It will be amazing! If Noah here ever gets to singing...” She laughed out loud as he sang loudly, making the sound guy clutch at his headphones. “Singing well, I mean.”
She gave Noah a playful poke in the side as she skipped back to the rest of her band mates, who looked as bored as she felt. Holli tried not to take any of this experience for granted, though. She never knew she would be here. In all honesty, as she was growing up, she just expected herself to become nothing, slowly dying inside while her abusive, tyrant father controlled every aspect of her life. But she had taken matters into her own hands. She had left, went to live with her best friend, and met Noah. She was captivated by him instantly, as she still was. It was hard not to be. He was charming. It didn’t take long for them to become more than friends, and soon enough, they were official. Holli had loved him, or as close as she could come to loving. They were each other’s first times, which meant he always held a special place in her heart. However, Holli didn’t really believe in love. At least not like that. She couldn’t believe that her father, after saying he loved her mother, would hit her so often that she was always bloody and bruised. That wasn’t love, that couldn’t be love.
But Holli did care about people in a way that she imagined love to be. Like Connor. Holli knew that she always fell fast, she always had. But Connor, well, things felt different with him. Of course, she always said that, too. She said it was different, that this time it would last. But she always ended up feeling suffocated, or bored, or she would just get scared, plain and simple. The future terrified Holli. That’s why she never stuck around, because it seemed too...permanent. But at this moment in time she was happy, and that was all that really mattered. She snapped out of her thoughts as Noah spoke to them again, and gave him a quick, grateful nod, picking her guitar up again and strumming it quietly. They played through Consequence a couple times, until Noah looked satisfied, and then moved along to the next song. Holli get a little nervous when she realized which song it was. She had written quite a few songs before, but this was the first one she had shown Noah. And apparently, it might go on the album. She wasn’t sure if it was any good, but she started to play the familiar chords, and her fast beating heart slowed down. She had worked hard on the song, Not a Second to Waste, and she hoped the other members would like it.
She sang the harmonies softly, her pride in the song, and her band, swelling as she listened to how good they sounded. She strummed on the acoustic she had brought with her, shooting a sideways glance at Noah, along with a small smile. To be honest, she had written the song mainly about him. It was a little bitter, but sweet, like her feelings for him. Sometimes she regretted that it was over, and sometimes it was okay, because they were still the best of friends. She focused her mind back on the song, knowing that it annoyed the other band members when she and Noah had their little..moments on stage. Sure, the crowds loved it when they flirted and joked, but for people who knew them, it was just a little awkward. They finished the song, and Holli couldn’t help the huge smile that was spreading across her face. “That was awesome, you guys! What did you think?” She wanted their opinions on the song, because she was still pretty self conscious about it. She bit her lip a little, offering them all hopeful smiles.

Winter's charm bracelet jingled slightly as she began twirling a drumstick around in her hand out of habit. Only she noticed the small soumd which was probably a good thing. If it was louder someone might ask her to take it off out of fear of it being heard on the tracks. She knew you wouldn't be able to hear it but people were stupid. She also knew that she would not be taking it off either way so it didn't really matter. She always wore it for important things. Shows, recording, dates. Anything she needed luck with, she wore it. Recording she especially needed it. Not that she needed luck for drumming. She was amazing and she knew it. However, they were recording a song she had written and the song they were working on now, well, she had to add something extra to it. Of course, they weren't adding that in right now. She would do that seperately. She was trying to put it off as long as she could because she was nervous about it. Not to mention she was going to see if she could find a way out of it. She was going to try to get Orion to do it. She knew he was an amazing screamer and probably better off for doing this than she was. She didn't think it would be that hard to talk him into it. She was just worried because she didn't scream for anyone. She only did it when she was at home messing around.
Sitting at her drumset, she had a good veiw of everyone else. She was back slightly from everyone and she could see everything that was going on for the most part. She watched Avalon get Noah to ham it up a little bit for a video that would be put together about the recording process. She laughed lightly and shook her head at Noah's antics and how Holli played off of them. In her opinion, the two just fit so well together. Win knew that they had had a thing way back when and that, well, pretty much all of their songs except for the one she had written herself, were about either Holli or Noah depending on which one of them had written it. This didn't bother Winnie at all. She knew the two still had something for each other. Well, she knew Noah still felt something at least. She could tell. He was her best friend after all and when you live with someone, it's easy to know what's going on in their head. She just wished Noah would act upon it and be with Holli over Liberty. God did Liberty rub Winter the wrong way. She probably wouldn't have a problem with her, but when you are trying to get with someone, you don't be a bitch to their best friend. It's one of the main rules. Granted, Liberty had apologized to her for being a whore. Still though, one apology wasn't going to make her okay in Winter's book. It would take a lot more than that.
Winter positioned her bare feet on the drum pedals to get ready to do a few run throughs of consequence. She normally played in her bare feet. Although sometimes she played in sneakers and even heels. It wasn't easy, but she did it when she needed too. Some strange venues got mad when she played without shoes on, but like she really cared? No. Not really. She waited and brought her drums in at the correct time, playing through the song with the rest of the band. It really was a good song. It was actually one of her favorites to play. Noticing Avalon and the camera on her, she did a couple different tricks with her sticks while still playing through perfectly. She sent a wink to the camera and then focused back on the drums as the camera moved from her. She knew she had to do perfect because Noah was a recording tyrant. If something sounded off, they did it again. And again, and again until it was perfect. Which was a good thing, but it just got annoying at times. Especially when you were tired or your mind was preoccupied like hers was a little at the moment. Finishing the song and seeing that everyone seemed happy that it was done, she let out a small sigh and ran her hand through her hair. She took a drink and wiped some sweat from her forehead. Drumming was definitely a work out. Lucky enough for her though, the next song they were doing there were no drums.
Win loved drumming but it was good to have a bit of break like she would with this song. She reached down near her waterbottle and pulled up her phone, replying to a text from Caleb. They were official now. Yes. Winter was in a relationship. She really liked Caleb. It was weird, but she didn't mind it. Not at all actually. Sure she got a little bit of teasing for it here and there already, but that was a little expected. No one had really ever expected her to be in a relationship and no one really expected this one to last. She would show them, though. She honestly had feelings for the guitarist and she didn't want to mess it up. She was going to try her hardest not to. Slipping her phone back to the floor she looked up as Holli asked everyone what they thought of the song. Win nodded and smiled. "I really liked it! Honest Hol, it was good!" Winter gave a thumbs up to Avalon with the camera and laughed but looked back as one of the guys spoke to them all through a mic from behind the recording platform. "Winter, no texting. It might interfere with the equiptment and sound." Winter raised an eyebrow at him. "What is this? High school?! Please. It's on silent! Chill out. If it interferes, I'll do the song by myself." The guy gave her a look and Winter rolled her eyes. "Fine I'll turn it off." She said and pretended to do so but really didn't. She gave a fake innocent grin and twirled the drumsticks around in her fingers. "What's next babycakes?"

This was Winter Pursuit's first full length and it had to be perfect. It had to explode them even more onto the scene then their previous ep's had done. They needed to prove everyone wrong. People like Seduction by Design's lot, the press that like to focus in on their problems, Noah's mom. Wait, he wasn't doing this for his mom, was he? Perhaps subconsciously he was. It wasn't even that Noah had never had a mother figure in his life, because the fact was he had which made it all the worse when it was stripped from him in one swift movement on the front page of the national newspaper. Noah wasn't necessarily a devout religious man, but he did believe in some higher being. It was hard not to when you were indoctrinated from birth. Hell, even his name was biblical. Noah grinned happily as Holli rested her chin on his shoulder and both of them looked toward the camera. His hands still found hers on his back even if they touched only for a milli second. Their relationship was hardly a secret. It was after all one of the few things that the band was completely honest about. Anyway, some of their songs were pretty obviously describing it so it would be hard to deny it. The situation did however create a good dynamic on stage as the fans seemed to go crazy when they quite obviously were flirting with one another with silly little smiles or jokes. Then again, they seemed to go crazy when Noah moved close to Orion too. Huh. Strange. Only one time had he been asked to say whether it was hard sharing a stage with Holli and he'd quite deliberately answered in one swift move "Never." Short and sweet his answer had been called but the conviction in his voice had been genuine nonetheless. He felt great sharing the stage with every one of his band members, they were after all his best friends, regardless of past history. Hell, he'd slept with two of them. If that wasn't being comfortable around someone then what the hell was?
Running through Consequence was fun to the lead singer, maybe it really was just him. He honestly could not wait till their fans could hear the new songs that were coming up. Even if they were a bit more 'honest', the style was still very much the old Winter Pursuit and the same sound that had made them get this far. That's the exact reason Noah wouldn't let an outside change what they'd built simply to appease more people. They weren't going to change the mind of the haters... after all every bad had them. Hell, even the Beatles would have had them. The song was just a good rock song that would go down a hit at a live show, something Noah cared most about. They needed to get quality for their money and that stemmed directly from the songs they could play. New songs therefore were always a big plus. Noah's eyes travelled to watch Winter as she smacked the drums in a moment when vocals weren't needed. She was really talented, the whole band was. He was seriously so lucky to be a part in this. Once consequence was finished, Noah reached into his pocket to feel for his packet of coke. Except, he paused when he saw the list for what they were recording. Shit. He couldn't be even slightly high for this song... it was the one that Holli had written. That would just be plain rude. Even if the words struck a chord within him that he would really not be present for, Noah knew the lyrics were raw and he would have to sing them. Just fantastic. It would be the acoustic song on the album, normally at the end as an extra live version. Naturally. Turning around, Noah picked up his beloved acoustic that was waiting and threw the strap over his shoulder. Holli would obviously have the main guitar parts because it was her song but he would provide the backing chords in the chorus. Truthfully, he'd been surprised when she'd handed him the song because that took a lot of courage. This time, it would just be the two of them playing. "Alright." Noah licked his lips and shifted his body around a bit, turning the microphone so he was facing Holli. "Is this better?..." Noah didn't say it outright but the small smirk on his face told her that he knew what the song was about exactly. Keeping the lyrics on his board in front of him, Noah didn't even look at them but kept his dark orbs on the guitarist the whole time he sung and played. It was a bit of a higher tone then he used to but nevertheless he'd made sure he could do it back at home and it went well with Holli's voice.
Singing the last few words, Noah couldn't maintain the eye contact and his eyes dropped to the sheet, although clearly not from forgetting the words. It was too soon for that. It didn't matter it had been years. That would never improve. As soon as the last note on the guitar was played, Noah flung the strap of his guitar off his shoulder and rested it on the rack before heading straight off to the bathroom. He didn't want to face the awkwardness that he was already feeling from singing the song, but also because he wasn't about to have a line in front of his band. Walking into the little boy's room, Noah threw his packet of coke down on the sink side and rested against the basin, his eyes looking through his hair at himself in the mirror. Doing his line was no longer fun... no longer something he wanted to do but was rather a necessity. It was a sad fact but a true one nonetheless. Cracking his neck, Noah cleared his throat and licked his lips between sorting a short line out on the back of his hand before inhaling it quickly. It wasn't enough to get him high really, but it was enough to get him by. Rubbing his face and then washing his hands furiously, Noah straightened and prepared himself to head back out. The fact fireworks was the last song they would do for the day hadn't surpassed him. Who had organised this set list? Were they trying to make him feel awkward. In his entire life, Noah had never ever written a song more personal then fireworks. His latest struggle with his drugs had not been a quiet one, the whole incident involving his mother and his almost overdose had spread like wildfire throughout the label. Then of course Garret had burnt his stash and left him withdrawing for days which had been when he'd wrote the song. He had debated on whether he was actually going to submit it but it had been too late and after he had unthinkingly sent the demo to Winter. Once that happened there was no turning back. Heading back into the room, Noah used his hand to move the microphone closer to his face. He wasn't playing guitar for this... he knew it would be hard enough to sing it as it was. Particularly with his closest friends in the room too. Glancing at Winter for a moment, Noah shrugged and shuffled his papers. "Fireworks, Winnie." Licking his lips, Noah looked at the recording man and let the music start from the band, his hands unintentionally pushing into his jacket pockets as he sung. He knew his voice sounded pure and raw as he sung, each word coming from every part of his heart. At the time of writing, Noah thought he'd lost his best friend after freaking her out and had eventually ended up using a relationship with a woman as a euphanism for his relationship with his drugs. It hurt to even sing it, at least this first time around.

THIS DISEASE IS GETTING WORSE ,I COUNTED MY BLESSINGS, NOW I'LL COUNT THIS CURSE. god. this was taking forever. orian was usually a patient person, but then again, he wasn't high. why? he had no clue. he was always high, but he had to be a dumbass and stay out all night, only to sleep in and wake up ten minutes before he had to be at the recording studio. he rushed, taking a cold shower to rid him of the smell of alcohol and whores before he stepped into the recording studio, getting a few weird looks. he knew he intimidated people with his bad attitude, vast amounts of tattoos, and piercings. but what probably frightened them the most was his lack of respect he had for everything. if he had actually respected his bandmates; he would have shown up on time. but he didn't, hence why he showed up late, grumpy as fuck. he watched noah write down the lyrics he had so meticulously written - no doubt about holli, the two were so attached it was sickening - shaking his head at how anal his friend was. orian liked to get things done right just like he did, but he wasn't even as close to being as much of a perfectionist as the lead singer of winter pursuit. as much as he liked noah, his antics really pissed him off. especially when he wanted to get the fuck out of the small, stuffy room ruled by bitchy production managers who flipped a shit over the tiniest things. and they seemed to have it out for orian, who didn't exactly like to follow the bullshit rules they made up for the band to follow. orian was well known for his bad temper and lack of listening skills among the producers, and to be honest, it really amused him. he loved seeing them squirm whenever he let his dark brown eyes fall on them. he liked power, and as the bass guitarist and part time screamer for winter pursuit, he had plenty of it. as noah scribbled down his words on the paper, orian shifted his weight from his left to his right foot, feeling himself grow more impatient with each second going by. and as he watched avalon - the camera girl or whatever, - walk around, taking footage of everyone, he kept his eyes on the ground, not even wanting a lens on him. of course she came over to him, and he shook his head, showing he wasn't in the mood. "go away." he said quietly, holding his hand out so she couldn't get a shot. sure, it was rude, but then again, he frankly didn't give a fuck. he was the only thing that really mattered right now, and he was going to look out for number one, and number one only.
thankfully, avalon listened to him and went back to noah and holli, who were being; well, noah and holli. he loved his friends, but fuck, they annoyed him with their giddy attitudes. they wanted to be together; that was obvious. but instead, they were both dating other people like morons and then complaining about it. orian didn't see the point in it, but then again, he was rather different then his band mates. like, the fact that he was a cold hearted asshole. he didn't really care about much, and it was obvious from the way he acted. he played the little retarded love songs his band wrote, and didn't complain. as long as he was getting paid, he didn't really care. the music wasn't hardcore enough for him, and he had to hold himself back from puking at the lyrics. it was all girly, cutesy love shit, something he didn't like at all. yeah, he believed in love, but he sure as hell didn't like singing about it. thankfully, he didn't have to. all he had to do was play a few -simple- chords and he could get the fuck out of there and smoke a bowl. or five. he kept his eyes on the ground as he played the songs that he had no part in writing - obviously - perfectly, because in all honesty; he was an extremely good bass player, and he knew it too. he had offer after offer to join signed bands, but he stuck with his friends, playing in their semi - big band, why? he was a moron. but it was too late now. a sigh of relief escaped his lips as they finished up consequences, and he had already pulled the strap over his head when holli announced that she had wrote a song. he had to suppress an eyeroll as he put his guitar down, already knowing that only noah and holli would be playing. typical them. he looked over at winter and made a few gagging noises before shooting her a smirk. he liked her; she was one of the few people he didn't mind hanging out with. he watched with a blank expression as the two wanna be lovers played their little duet, the bag of pot weighing heavy in his misfits jacket pocket. "aw fuck it." he said, pulling it out and finding a half smoked joint that he had left in his pocket from last night. and as the producers literally screamed at him to put it away, he merely lit it and put it to his lips, inhaling the smoke deeply before flipping them off with both hands, laughing as he did so. yeah, he was a badass. and he knew it too. at this point in time, holli had asked them what they thought of her song. he laughed again, the effects of the weed obvious. "it's cute if you're into emo 'you belong with me' shit." he snorted, taking yet another drag off of the joint. yeah, he was mean. but he didn't really care. he could have said worse, but he didn't because holli amused him -sometimes- and he tried to be nice. after his comment, he just shrugged and did that infamous smirk that had thousands of girls screaming. he laughed and shook his head, taking another drag before watching winter kiss holli's ass, causing him to shake his head. why everyone had to be such a kiss ass, he didn't know. but he kept quiet as he watched the producers freak about the illegal drug prescence in the studio. at one point, a man walked, and orian merely smirked and inhaled deeply blowing the smoke in the man's face. "come on, you don't like me, i sure as hell don't like you, why don't you go back in your cute little office and let us big kids play, eh?" he said, his voice overly nice as he patted the man's shoulder as if they were friends. the man went as if he were going to speak again, but orian merely shook his head, which caused the man to go back into the recording studio to no doubt rant about what an ass orian oliver hudson was.
but as the recording continued, he noticed noah was on edge. he shook his head, knowing how his friend dealt with a drug addiction. he knew how that was, and a small sense of empithy washed over the twenty one year old as he watched his best friend rush to the bathroom, obviously getting his fix. he sighed and dropped the roach onto the expensive carpet, putting it our with a twist of his right foot. he looked up and saw the producers nearly flipping a shit over the damage he had done. "jesus christ. shit's pretty uptight here, isn't it, winnie?" he chuckled, sparing her a glance before looking back over at holli. "i don't see why you can't just fuck him. i know you want to." he laughed, not afraid to talk vulgar with the girls. when it came to orian hudson, there were no boundaries, no lines and no limits. he was unpredictable and outspoken. but he quieted down once noah walked back in, looking somewhat calmer. noah didn't scare him one bit, but he knew that if he kept up his little charde, noah would bitch about not getting things done. and at this point, all orian wanted to do was go home and sleep. maybe call charlotte too, he wasn't sure. all he knew was that he didn't want to be here. orian watched his best friend walk in, as if he were an all new person. oh yeah, he had gotten his fix; that was obvious. "goddamn tweaker." he mumbled under his breath before putting the guitar strap back over his shoulder and letting the last of the smoke that had occupied his lungs slowly trail out his nose, looking over to see avalon of course, recording him. he didn't see why she insisted on getting shots of him. he wasn't interesting. all he did was start trouble. he looked away from the camera before looking back down at his guitar, playing the simple chords that came with the song fireworks. life was easy. especially when you were the twenty one year old bass player for winter pursuit, who got paid to do what he loved, and he didn't even have to do it sober. in fact, he played his best when he was high.

THE WAY THAT YOU HATE ME AND THE LENGTH OF YOUR HAIR, IT'S THE REASON I MADE you, it's the bond that we share, you see we're all trying to endure, you could easily go and make your own life somewhere Holli was chewing nervously on the inside of her cheek not even halfway through the song. She hadn't messed up yet, though, and even though Winter looked a little left out, and she could practically feel Orian judging her, she had confidence in herself and Noah. As they finished the song, she gave a small, awkward smile to everyone, but it fell quickly as Noah ran off. She knew why, of course, but his timing was terrible. She mumbled "Goddamn it, Noah." under her breath, then turned to hear the band's critique. She shot a grateful glance to Winter, and just rolled her eyes at Orian. She was used to his negative attitude. She'd been dealing with it for years, and she didn't let it affect her anymore. His comment about her and Noah's relationship irked her a little, though, and she grimaced at him, irritation tainting her voice. "I have a boyfriend, Orian. Just shut the hell up and keep on toking." Although, in all honesty, she knew Orian was right. It was near impossible to work with Noah every day, while she was secretly wanting to jump his bones. But she loved Connor, and even though Noah had been her first, it didn't mean she couldn't get over him, right? She reached over and yanked her flask out of her bag, downing a big swallow, the alcohol burning her throat. What a group they were. The pothead, the alcoholic, the tweaker. Maybe that was the reason they made such awesome music. Getting along together, though, well that was a different story. They were all friends, yes, but they grinded on each others nerves a lot more than good friends really should. She dropped her eyes, allowing the feeling of the alcohol to warm her body, but raised them quickly as Noah came awkwardly back into the room. She asked him silently with her eyes if he was alright, but he just turned to Winter instead, and she sighed, frustrated. Noah was so hard to reach sometimes.
She had only heard Fireworks a few times, and only played it once, but her part wasn't very difficult. She played it with her mind somewhere else, mostly on her plans with Connor later. He really was a great guy, and he was good to her. Even though she had loved Noah in her own little way, their relationship had always been pretty dysfunctional. She felt a little pathetic, though, still writing songs about him, three years after they had ceased to be a couple anymore. She didn't even get a ...feeling around him anymore. He was a normal part of life for her now, her best friend. Really, all of the band were her closest friends. Even though they got in dumb fights, she trusted them all immensely, and knew that they felt the same. She glanced back at Winter, being a superstar as always on her drums, always the peacekeeper. And Orian, of course, who was cynical and harsh, but still lovable. At least for Holli. And Noah. She let her mind skip over Noah, the stress of recording already causing her to think about him more than she really should be. Instead, she focused her eyes at some random spot in front of her, trying to empty her mind. An urge to get smashed washed through her all of a sudden, and she itched to pick her flask up out of her bag, but willed her fingers to keep playing. Stopping would add so much stress onto Noah, and that was the last thing she wanted. The boy worked hard enough as it was. The song started to end, and she exhaled a huge sigh of relief, hoisting her guitar off of her and resting it against the wall. She slid down from her stool to sit cross legged on the floor, rummaging through her bag.
She realized that she probably looked a little odd right now, so she took a large swallow and looked up at her band mates. "That was the last song, right? If so, I say we celebrate!" Everyone was much too serious today, and it was starting to bother her. They needed to let loose and have a little more fun. They all worked too hard. Ignoring the previous awkwardness, she stood up and leaned against Noah, her arm twisted nonchalantly through his. "You're too awesome for all of us, Noah. Except Winnie. You two should be in your own band." She stuck her tongue out at Orian in a loving way, feeling the effects of the alcohol sweeping through her small body. She jumped up and away from Noah to give Winter a sisterly hug, and Orian a big kiss on the cheek. She knew he would make some sarcastic comment, but she knew that he didn't mean to be as rude as he really was. Well, yes he did, but she loved him nonetheless. She gave the sound people a big thumbs up, seeing them laugh a little and shake their heads. Holli always tried to up the energy in the room while recording, they were all becoming used to it by now. She slipped her guitar into the case and took out her Tmobile Tap, turning it on, before winking at Winter. "See, Winnie? Unlike you, I follow the studio rules!" She smiled at a cute message from Connor, but feeling bad, with Noah in the room. Even though it didn't really make sense, because her and Noah were friends. Just friends.
She took her mind off of it and turned to her band mates. "Okay, so I know we usually all go off to our own little lives, but not today. We're gonna do something together to celebrate how awesome we are, kay? What do you guys want to do?" She widened her eyes and looked around at all of them, her suggestion creating a bit of an awkward silence throughout the room. She looked at Winter for a little help, because she was usually the most eager to do something fun. Holli loved her band mates, but it seemed that lately they had been getting more and more distant from each other's lives, and quite frankly, it really bothered Holli.

Winter's eyes shifted from her drums up to Orian as he walked in late as usual. She really wasn't surprised by it in all honesty. One of the band members was always late. It was a normal thing and even their manager had gotten a little used to it. Of course, Win did catch Kenzie telling them a time that was actually earlier than the real time so that if they were late, they were on time. It worked for a while until they all caught on and realized they had more time to fuck around then they thought they did and still showed up even later. And even though they all loved what they did, they were late to shows more than once. Of course, it only gave whoever opened for them more time to play but producers and people who ran show venues weren't always happy about it. Not like they would act on it though because the band played sold out shows and made the venues a shit ton of money. So despite their always being late, they were never banned from a venue and they were rarely scolded for it. None of the band members said something to one another either because if it wasn't one of them, it was another. They were a perect little group in their own sort of way.
Win laughed lightly at Orian making gagging sounds at the song Holli had written. It got her a stern look from one of the men in the sound booth basically telling her to be quiet. She rolled her eyes and pulled out her phone, texting Caleb. Her head picked up as a familliar scent hit her nose. Her eyes landed on Orian as he smoked a joint in the middle of the recording studio. She looked to the furious producers and then back to Orian who obviously could care less. Winter cracked up. She laughed even more as their bass player spoke to one of the men who came to talk to him about it and blew smoke in his face. She couldn't help not to laugh and she wouldn't be surprised if she got scolded for it. Orian was just funny as hell. He was one of her best friends. The whole band was but they all were on different levels. Orian was her best friend who she caused trouble with. He was an asshole through and through but she thought it hilarious not to mention it kept her in check sometimes to hear him speak the truth about any situation. Holli was her girl best friend. The best friend who she could talk to about well, girl stuff. And Noah. Well Noah was her guy best friend who she told everything and anything to. Her eyes went to search for him but she found he was missing.
A confused look played over the drummer's face for a minute but she was distracted by Orian putting the joint out on the carpet and speaking to her. She nodded before trying to surpress a laugh at his comment to Holli. She may not have been successful in holding back laughter if it weren't for her eyes finding Noah again. He had been in the bathroom and it was obvious what he had done. She sighed slightly and a somewhat dissappointed look crawled onto her face. Sure it was his life and he could do as he pleased but she worried about him now because of what had happened the night he had had a little too much. She said nothing though. Instead she simply nodded and got ready to play their last song of the day. Bringing her drums in she played fireworks without a hitch, focusing on simply getting it right so they didn't have to do it again. She knew the song was hard for Noah and playing it more than once may not be so good for him. The song ended and it seemed like it was perfect. She prayed no one wanted to do it again for Noah's sake and the rest of the band's. They all seemed like they wanted to be done with recording as three straight days of it was incredibly tiring.
Winter laughed lightly and shook her head at Holli's comment. The girl had too much energy. She always did. She hugged her back and stood from the drumset. Lucky enough for her, she didn't have to take it apart as the studio hands would do it for her. She rolled her eyes as Holli commented about following the rules. "Rules are for little girls." She teased yet everyone knew Winter following rules happened just a little less than Orian following them. "Besides, what fun is it to always do as you're told?" She asked. Winnie walked over and stood by Orian as Holli made her brilliant suggestion of all of them doing something together. She glanced to Orian, "Got any more weed? I'm gonna need it." She commented in a half sarcastic tone. She did love spending time with her band mates, they were her best friends. However, she hadn't seen Caleb in three days and she was itching to. She didn't voice that out loud though. She was sure Holli wouldn't take that as an excuse for them not to do something as a whole. Her eyes found Holli's who was looking at her waiting for a suggestion. "I don't know Hol. My brain is fried from recording for three days straight. I'm fresh out of ideas."
