I’M THE LAST ONE STANDING, YEAH
AND I AINT EVER SCARED, YEAH!
. Sure enough, Addy was in bed asleep, and right fucking next to her was that son of a bitch Derek. Garret was blinded by rage, it coursed throughout his body, causing him to feel his heart beat accelerate throughout his whole body. Grabbing one of Addy’s crutches, Garret walked over to the side of the bed where Derek was sleeping and started swing at him. “You. Fucking. Mother. Fucker. What. Did.. I. Fucking. Tell. You. About. Addy.” he said before ditching the crutch and using his fist, ignoring the screaming that could be heard from Addy.Garret felt like a complete and total asshole. Here he had only been home for a few weeks, and he was already pissing off the people he loved. Grace had pretty much told him that they were over for good, not that he could blame her. He had up and left her without a word or explanation. He would be absolutely pissed if she did that to him. Though, Garret could honestly say that he would not have told her it was over. He was just to absolutely and utterly crazy about the girl. He knew he could never find a girl that would ever compare to her, nor did he have any intention of trying to. Maybe he would eventually move on…maybe. It wasn’t only Grace that he had pissed off though. Kelley hadn’t taken it well when Garret started to smoke his pot again. His drug habit had been the reason that he had left in the first place, and when he had returned, Kelley had been the one to talk sense into him, and make him stop again. Though two weeks later, Grace had broken his heart, and he had started up again. And to top the cake off, he had upset Addy. He knew that she thought she was in love with Derek, and as much as he knew she wasn’t, he felt bad for making her hate him. She had had good reason to. After all he had threatened to beat the shit out of Derek the next time he saw him. A threat that wasn’t exactly hollow. He was certain that the next time he saw the kid punches would be thrown, but at least now he wasn’t planning on seeking him out to beat him up, that was a start right? He certainly thought that it was as much as could be asked of him.
Addy was like a sister to him. No, not like a sister, Addy was his sister, even if it wasn’t blood, or even by piece of paper. She was one of the few people in the world that Garret actually cared for and kill for. That’s why this Derek kid pissed him off so much. He reminded Garret of how he and Kelley used to be, and that wasn’t a good thing at all. And the fact that Derek had let Garret know several times that he had gotten Addy into bed pissed him off even more. After all, Addy was still like a kid to Garret, even if she was only two years younger then him. She seemed much younger, much more fragile to Garret. The fact he had her so pissed at him really upset him. He was going to make this up to her, he was certain of it. Maybe he could take her shopping? Addy liked to shop, right? Well, he wasn’t quite sure that she would be wanting to do that since she was on crutches. That just kind of seemed like it would be a pain. Maybe he could take her to a concert or a movie? Pulling out his laptop, he got on a website that sold tickets to different events going on in LA. Hey! Look at that! Some kind of ballet company was coming to town…tonight! Damn, that was pretty convenient. Granted, he knew he was going to be fucking bored out of his mind, but he figured he could suffer through it for Addy. He could even take her to get food afterwards. Yea, that would be good.
He shut the laptop and stripped off his pants and shirt, going into his bathroom in just his boxers. Normally the boy wouldn’t be bothered to walk around in his apartment completely naked. But Mason had been staying with him for the past month or so, and he was certain he wouldn’t appreciate it. Though he knew he only had a few more days to worry about that. Apparently Savannah and Mason had made up and he was moving back in with Savannah and Caleb. Garret had to admit he was just a bit bummed about it. It was great that Mason had Savannah back, but he couldn’t help but be bummed about the fact his apartment was about to be a very lonely place. Grace wouldn’t be visiting it anymore, which meant the place would only see Garret and McDuff with the occasional Benji Kelley or Noah. Well, at least he wouldn’t have to worry about smoking in the house anymore. Mason had told him that it was his apartment, and he shouldn’t worry about him, but still, it hadn’t felt right, he had offered Mason the place right? The least he could do was respect the fact that Mason didn’t smoke. Garret turned on the water and climbed in the shower, cursing when the hot water scalded his skin. Quickly washing his hair and body, he hopped out of the shower to dry himself off and get dressed.
After quickly straightening his hair he grabbed his car keys and headed to his car. It wasn’t a far drive to the venue where the dance company was going to be. He bought the two best seats that they still had available. It was almost center in the third row, so they weren’t terrible by any means. He was actually kind of excited about it. Not excited to watch it himself, but excited that he had found it and that Addy would be completely excited about it. Surely she would have to forgive him when he produced these tickets. He felt a smile come to his face as he slid the tickets into his back pocket. He knew how upset she was that she couldn’t dance. They had actually all been over at Kelley’s place not too long ago for dinner. Garret had insisted on proving to them that he could in fact cook now, and Kelley told him that he was more than welcome to prove it as long as he didn’t burn his kitchen down. So he had cooked for Dayna, Kelley, Addy and himself, and all through out dinner he could tell that Addy was upset about something, so finally, as he was doing dishes and she was sitting down in a chair drying them, he had asked her what was wrong. He had frowned when she admitted that she was bummed about not being able to dance. That was when an Idea had struck him, he proclaimed that she could still dance, and with that, he had picked her up and twirled her around the kitchen, placing her feet on his and doing the most random dance steps he could think of. She protested and demanded he put her down, but her smile suggested otherwise. They had laughed over that and the dish they broke for the rest of the night.
Pulling into the parking lot, Garret locked his car before running up to the door. He knocked a few times and frowned when there was no answer. He knew she had to be home. He quietly opened the door. Sure enough, her purse was lying right on the couch. Surely she wouldn’t still be in bed? Deciding that this was good enough that he could get away with waking her up, he planned on walking in and gently shaking her awake. He creaked open her door with a slight smile…that instantly turned into a scowl. “What the fuck.”
